PPPoE

 

PPPoE

PPPoE, point-to-point protocol over Ethernet, is a network protocol for encapsulating PPP frames in Ethernet frames.
It is used mainly with cable modem and DSL services.
It offers standard PPP features such as authentication, encryption, and compression.

PPPoE was developed by UUNET, Redback, and RouterWare. The protocol is published in RFC 2516.
