Puzzle Fighter
Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo, or more casually known as Puzzle Fighter, is a 1-to-2 player puzzle game that was first released in Japan in the spring of 1996 by Capcom. Shortly after, the game was released in other parts of the world where it received modest popularity in gaming communities. Despite Puzzle Fighter having been out for quite some time, the game still maintains its popularity among both new and long time fans due to the ease of how one can learn to play and the enjoyable nature of the gameplay itself. The title essentially spoofs one of Capcom's fighting games, Super Street Fighter II Turbo, while the music and interface elements spoof that of Street Fighter Alpha and Street Fighter Alpha 2.
Characters All Puzzle Fighter characters are super-deformed versions of characters from Capcom's two fighting game series, Street Fighter and Darkstalkers. This gave the game a unique, light-hearted feel that served as a deserved break from the rough and edgy fighting games that were prevalant at the time of Puzzle Fighter's initial release. An actual fighting game using these character models called Pocket Fighter was released in 1997.
