Silas House

Silas House (August 7, 1971- ) is the author of Clay's Quilt, A Parchment of Leaves, and The Coal Tattoo. House's writing is noted for its lyricism, spirituality, and for shedding new light on life in Appalachia. House's prizes and honors include the Award of Special Achievement from the Fellowship of Southern Writers and the fiction prize from the National Society of Arts and Letters. In 2000 he was chosen, alongside other now-established writers such as Pamela Duncan and Jack Riggs, as one of the Ten Best Emerging Writers in the South at the Millennial Gathering of Writers, Vanderbilt University. His short stories can be found in Stories from the Blue Moon Cafe Vol. 1 and 2., The Alumni Grille, New Stories From the South: The Year's Best, 2004, Christmas in the South, and other anthologies.
