Snake Eyes (movie)
Snake Eyes is a crime thriller directed by Brian DePalma, and featuring many of his trademark use of long tracking shots and split screens. Released in 1998, the film was written by David Koepp and Brian DePalma, and rated R when it was released to theaters on August 7th of 1998, at the height of the summer movie season. The film, which cost an estimated $73 million to produce, only returned $55 million, and continued DePalma's slide in commercial bankability. The film was also panned by most critics.
Story
A shady Atlantic City detective, Rick Santoro (played by Nicolas Cage) believes there is a conspiracy behind the assassination of the Secretary of Defense at a boxing match. Julia Costello (Carla Gugino) also knows of the conspiracy, and seeks protection from Santoro. Little does Santoro know, but his friend and army commander, Kevin Dunne (Gary Sinise), is in on the conspiracy and working against him.
