Sulaiman S. Olayan
Sulaiman Olayan or Suliman Olayan (November 5, 1918 - July 4, 2002) was one of Saudi Arabia's wealthiest businessmen. Orphaned at age six, Olayan, had more humble beginnings than business counterparts from the Kingdom, who often had connections to the royal family, although, he was not destitute. In 1947, Olayan founded the Olayan Group as a trucking services company. The venture would swell to include construction, energy, insurance components, and become the operator and distributor of many Western brands in the Kingdom. Olayan was also a player in the financial markets, where he held notable portions of many blue chips. In 20001, the annual Forbes magazine "World's Richest People" list placed him at 38 with a worth of $8 billion.
