Sunset Village is a census-designated place located in Upson County, Georgia. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 871.

Geography


Sunset Village is located at 32°53'57" North, 84°24'34" West (32.899173, -84.409413).

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 12.9 km² (5.0 mi²). 12.8 km² (4.9 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.01% water.

Demographics


As of the census of 2000, there are 871 people, 341 households, and 257 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 68.2/km² (176.8/mi²). There are 358 housing units at an average density of 28.0/km² (72.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 97.01% White, 2.53% African American, 0.23% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.23% from two or more races. 0.46% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 341 households out of which 34.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.3% are married couples living together, 9.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 24.6% are non-families. 20.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.55 and the average family size is 2.96.

In the CDP the population is spread out with 26.9% under the age of 18, 6.1% from 18 to 24, 30.1% from 25 to 44, 24.7% from 45 to 64, and 12.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 91.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 86.8 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP is $34,487, and the median income for a family is $40,962. Males have a median income of $30,647 versus $21,850 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $16,013. 9.1% of the population and 6.1% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 11.4% of those under the age of 18 and 0.0% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
