Super Bowl XXIV was played on January 28, 1990 in New Orleans, Louisiana. The San Francisco 49ers beat the Denver Broncos 55 to 10. It remains the most lopsided game in Super Bowl history to date. The game was telecast in the United States by CBS. Pat Summerall and John Madden called the game. The GameThe San Francisco 49ers blew out the Denver Broncos by scoring on six of their first eight drives. The 49ers scored first on a 20 yard pass from Joe Montana to Jerry Rice. The Broncos then responded by kicking a field goal to make the score 7-3. On San Francisco's next drive, Denver's defense forced them to punt. But then Broncos running back Bobby Humphrey lost a fumble to the 49ers at midfield. From then on, the 49ers scored 34 unanswered points: Denver's only touchdown, a 3-yard run by quarterback John Elway, came midway through the third quarter. But by then, the 49ers still had the lead 41-10. For the rest of the game, the 49ers continued to stuff Denver's offense as they scored two more touchdowns to make the final score 55-10.
