    Plot

Jim Street (Farrell) is a hotshot cop for the LA police department. When his loose-cannon partner Brian Gamble (Renner) shoots a hostage, they break ties, Gamble leaves the force, and Street is sentenced to the gun cage. When Sgt. Harrelson, or "Hondo", is called out of retirement, he puts together a team, made up of Street, Chris Sanchez (Rodriguez), Deke Kaye (LL Cool J), TJ McCabe (Charles), and Michael Boxer (van Holt). Almost immediately, they get thrown into trouble as Alex Montel (Martinez) kills his uncle, and he gets pulled over for a broken tail-light. However, they can't confirm his identity, since his credentials matched that of his uncle, who had warrants against him; they arrest him. After he's arrested and brought to a jail, he offers "$100 million, to whoever gets me out of here." All hell breaks loose as plan after plan to get him to a prison backfires by radical people who want a slice of that money. The final showdown is between Montel's gang of helpers and the SWAT squad, the former being reinforced by Gamble and TJ. All ends well and Montel is finally brought to a maximum-security prison.
