Syrinx (music)

Syrinx, written in 1913 by Claude Debussy, is commonly considered an indispensable part of any flutist's repertoire. It is a very difficult piece, with generous room for interpretation and emotion. It was originally written for a never realized theatrical project with Gabriel Mourey, and is based on the myth of the amorous pursuit of the nymph Syrinx by the god Pan.
