Talat M. Othman
Talat M. Othman was born in Betunia, Palestine. In 1947 he emigrated to the United States with his family. Joined the board of Harken Energy in 1987 to represent the interests of Abdullah Taha Bakhsh. Served as chair of the three member Audit Committee of which George W. Bush was a member. In 1995 formed Grove Financial, Inc of Chicago and currently serves as its Chairman and CEO. On July 31, 2000 Othman opened the Republican National Convention with a Muslim benediction, marking the first time a Muslim had addressed a major US political gathering. Board member of the Illinois Finance Authority. Member of the Chicago Council on Foreign Relations Independent Task Force. Sits on the Board of Directors of the Middle East Policy Council. Serves as Secretary/Treasurer of the American Task Force on Palestine.
