Ted Gärdestad

 

Ted Gärdestad

Ted Gärdestad (born February 18 1956, dead June 22 1997 in Sollentuna, Sweden) was a Swedish singer and musician.

He made himself a name as a 15-year old and has together with his brother Kenneth Gärdestad written a number of popular Swedish songs, such as "Jag vill ha en egen måne", "Satellit" and "Sol, vind och vatten". He was as most popular in the end of the 1970s.

He was in the media, wrongfully, accused of the assassination of Olof Palme, an accusation that hit him hard.

During his last years he suffered from depression and committed suicide in 1997. According to his brother, he was mentally disturbed at the end of his life and committed suicide during a period when he was involved with a cult.
