Ted Levine

 

Ted Levine

Ted Levine (born 29 May 1958 in Parma, Ohio) is an American actor. He is probably best known for his role as demented serial killer Jame 'Buffalo Bill' Gumb in the 1991 blockbuster thriller Silence of the Lambs.

Levine attended Marlboro College and the University of Chicago. He began acting in theatre but now devotes most of his energy towards film and television, including the 1980s TV series Crime Story and ABC's short-lived series Wonderland in 2000. Film credits include Heat, Evolution, Moby Dick (TV), and Harlan County War. Since 2002, he has co-starred with Tony Shalhoub as Captain Leland Stottlemeyer on USA Network's popular detective series Monk.
