Tha Dogg Pound
Tha Dogg Pound is a rap duo made up of Kurupt and Daz Dillinger. The group was orginally made up of Kurupt, Daz, Warren G, Nate Dogg, and Snoop Dogg, but was shortedned I think due to Warren, Nate, and Snoop's solo success. The group made their 1992 rap verse debut on Dr. Dre's The Chronic, on various songs. They also appeared on Snoop's classic Doggystyle, and the Death Row soundtracks Murder Was The Case and Above The Rim. Their mysterious solo, Dogg Food, hit shelves in 1995. It was said to be controversal (there was no edited version ever released), do to the dirty and violent lyrics, talking about phrases like "Bitches", "Hos", and "fo-fo" but the album was not a that much of a hit, and Let's Play House and New York, New York were probably the only hits that were on airplay and on the mainstream. In 1996, they wee featured on 2pac's legendary All Eyez On Me, and other hits. Kurupt and Daz went on to have solo success in 1998. They both eventually left Death Row Records, and Kurupt started Antra Records, while Daz started D.P.G. Recordz. In 2003, they both started to have beef, because Kurupt claimed that Daz betrayed him. Kurupt signed back to Death Row Records in 2004, and his awaited release "Against Tha Grain" has been postponed who knows how many times. Daz is still on D.P.G records, with his new 2005 release "Tha Dogg Pound Gangsta Lp".
