Tirat Carmel

Tirat Carmel, or Tirat Ha-Carmel (Hebrew: טירת כרמל), is a small city in northern Israel, neighboring with Israel's third largest city, Haifa. The city currently has a population of 20,000 people, and it is growing at a rate of 0.9% each year. Throughout the years, the city was controlled by many peoples, including the Romans, the Ottoman and the British. With the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948, the city finally came under Jewish control. The town of Tirat Carmel was officially declared a city in 1992 [[1]. Today, the city has a very diverse population. Although a large portion of its population is Jewish, most of the people come from all walks of life, and from all across the world.

Tirat Carmel is one of Israel’s leading cities when it comes to technology. International Corporations such as Intel, ADT and Hewlett-Packard, are only several of the many companies who hold their offices in the city’s successful MATAM Industrial Park.

The city also produced many Israeli celebrities, such as Soccer players Tal Banin and Reuven Attar, and comedian Shalom Asayag.
