Trzcianka
Trzcianka is a town in Greater Poland, in Poland. Since 1999 it has belonged to Wielkopolska Province and Czarnkow-Trzcianka County. Previously in Pila Voivodship (1975-1998). Trzcianka has 17,500 inhabitants. From 1772 to 1945 the town was in Prussian borders, and its name was Schoenlanke. There is a mention of Trzcianka in a document dated 1245. In this year the Polish king Bolesław Wstydliwy gave the land in the valley of Notec river to Sedziwoj of Czarnkow. There were three villages: Biala, Gulcz, and Rozdrozka. Probably, Rodrozka was placed where Trzcianka is today. The new name was Trzciana Laka, which was changed to Trzcionka in the 17th century. After the First Partition of Poland, the new name of the town was Schoenlanke (Ger.). Soviet troops marching toward Berlin from the east entered Trzcianka on 27 January 1945.
