Tyria Sarkin
Fictional character from the Star Wars Expanded Universe. Member of the X-Wing unit known as Wraith Squadron.Tall and slender with blonde hair, she had come to the New Republic from the planet Toprawa where she was a member of the Antarian Rangers. Her family had been killed and she survived by her ranger skills for years until a New Republic Intelligence mission found her and a few others and brought them offworld. She got into the New Republic Academy after demonstrating some rudimentary control of the Force. She met with Luke Skywalker who tested her but thought she would never progress very far in her control. She was on the verge of washing out when she was transferred to Colonel Aton Repness' pilot training squadron. Just before their final examination Repness approached Tyria with a proposition to raise her low scores if she agreed to steal an X-wing. When she refused he threatened her with gross insubordination and revealed he had been falsifying her scores all along. She would have washed out weeks before. So she kept her mouth shut, graduated at the bottom of her class and immediately put in for the new squadron Wedge Antilles was forming. Antilles was looking to form a new X-wing unit whose primary skills would be commando tactics rather than piloting. She made the squad but with the lowest rated score. She constantly strived to better herself and all the while she was very attracted to fellow pilot Kell Tainer. The unit went active and was named Wraith Squadron, they were assigned to General Han Solo's task force, assigned to hunt down the Warlord Zsinj and his Super Star Destroyer Iron Fist. Kell Tainercontinued his advances but Tyria turned down his early advances. Kell was in love with the idea of her but as the two got to know each other better they eventually became romantically involved. When now-Major Repness' black market ring was revealed, Tyria went to her commanding officer, Wedge Antilles, and explained her prior involvement. He was struck by her honest spirit and lack of deception, a nice change from most of the other Wraiths, and agreed to stand by her and defend any charges that may arise from the investigation. After that incident Tyria's Force-abilities started to emerge more readily, when she was calm and at ease. One instance she sensed an assassination attempt on General Solo by a New Republic A-wing pilot who fired on Solo's Mon Calamari flagship, Mon Remonda. Solo survived and Tyria had to shoot down the brainwashed pilot before he could try again. After chasing down Warlord Zsinj and stopping Iron Fist at Selaggis, Wraith Squadron was transferred from Starfighter Command to the New Republic's Intelligence division. Tyria and the majority of Wraith's pilot took the transfer.
