UbersiteUbersite is an Internet website located at [Ubersite] where users are allowed and encouraged to post articles they've written, pictures they've drawn, or anything else they may want to post. It's widely believed that the main purpose of the website is a boredom-killer for those stuck at work, though some budding authors use it to hone their skills. A few users choose to type blindly about whatever is on their mind, though most post serious articles, ranging from Maddox-style rants, biting satire, dramatic stories, and humorous pictures they've drawn. For some, Ubersite is a medium to release their writings to the world, to others a community to converse with other internet users (akin to a message board), and to a small number of people a place just to see what madness is going on. Ubersite is run by owner Bart Cilfone, who also owns and operates BoredAtWork.com, where interesting links and Bart's favorite humorous articles found on the Ubersite main page are posted for viewing by a larger audience. Site FeaturesThe main page contains the last 40 articles (each user may only have one post on the front page at a time) that have been posted, along with a search feature that will search Ubersite's archives for a particular word or phrase in a title of a post. There used to be a feature to search for those words and/or phrases in all message bodies and message reviews, but it was taken down recently (too many assbooks were using it to search for the words, "the," and, "a") and replaced with the option of using google to peruse the archives. There is a list of the last 10 articles to be reviewed, the top 10 Most Heated posts (posts featuring an especially high amount of debate or controversy), the top 10 Most Viewed posts in site history, the pseudonyms of 30 Most Viewed Authors in site history (and a link to all of their messages), a message at the top of the site where users can pay a dollar to post a short message (100 characters max.) seen by all users, and various links for the site management and for info on the site. One of owner Bart-Bart Cilfone's intentions in creating Ubersite was not only to see what people had to say, but also to, for lack of better words, "see what happens." It is an experiment in the nature of man posing such questions as, "What happens when society is left to its own devices?" Some traits of Ubersite are the skirmishes that break out between users, the reactions to particularly bad/graphic posts, and other chaotic, random things that go on. A person could not make a single post at Ubersite for years and still be entertained only by the actions of those actually posting. RatingPosts are rated by fellow users on the following scale: Don't Bother (-2), The numbers are then averaged as an overall score and given at the top of the page. With this numerical rating, the reviewer can leave commentary. If the review does not write anything, the default review of "No comment" is given. Authors and persons who lose their rating priviledes can leave commentary but their numerical rating does not count. UberMadnessEvery so often the users of Ubersite put on a tournament of writers called UberMadness, structured similarly to the annual NCAA Basketball tournament dubbed March Madness. The tournament begins roughly every 6 months or so, and had currently completed its second running. Competing posters are given the same title and just over a week to write a post pertaining to it. After both entries have been submitted, they are combined and posted under the name "UberMadness" for anonymity, and users vote on which entry they feel is best written. Barring disqualification, the entry that receives the most votes continues to the next round. The winner of Ubermadness is dubbed the "Uberlord" and shall not compete in the next running, so as to avoid cries of foul play. Alters Some thing Uberusers often do is create alternative accounts. These are called 'alters'. Usually uberusers get upset and try to find out who made the alter. Usually when there are a lot of consecutive posts with obvious qualities that would get you a -2, made out to be the fault of their being a begginer, it's an alter. The most infamous alter creator currently on Ubersite is a homley looking chap named Steven Durel. He is a writer of very poor political rants and bad fiction, and takes his frustrations out by annoying other users with his alters. Ubersite.co.ukThere is no link between the original ubersite.com, and this UK based site. Whereas ubersite.com offers a wide range of articles from random contributers, ubersite.co.uk has a small team of writers with articles ranging from the latest football (soccer) debates to political rants and short stories.
