U.S. Committee for the United Nations Population Fund
The U. S. Committee for UN Population Fund was formed in 1998 to raise moral, political and financial support in the United States for the work of the UN Population Fund (UNFPA), which provides voluntary family planning and reproductive health services, ensures safe motherhood, prevents HIV/AIDS and other STDs, assists in humanitarian crisis situations, and offers other critical life-saving support to women, men and children in over 140 developing countries.
Advocacy Educating American legislators about international family planning and the importance of U.S. leadership for the work of UNFPA - by hosting members of Congress and their staffers on visits to UNFPA field programs; conducting briefings with Congressional offices; placing ads and editorials in targeted media.
Education Educating the American public and media about the work of UNFPA - by touring around the country a compelling exhibit about the lives of the women and children whom UNFPA serves distributing education materials; conducting media outreach; organizing select speaking engagements; maintaining an informative website.
Fundraising Generating individual and institutional donor support for UNFPA - by building a constituency of leadership support; organizing fundraising events; soliciting foundations, corporations and individuals.
