VALIS trilogy

 

VALIS trilogy

In February and March of 1974, science fiction author Philip K. Dick experienced visions in which he claimed to have been contacted by a transcendental, mystical mind he called VALIS, or Vast Active Living Intelligence System.

In the following years, the "traumatic encounter" with VALIS caused Dick to write a journal with more than 8,000 pages. This work became known as the "Exegesis".

Towards the end of his life, Dick incorporated his so-called "2-3-74 experiences" into three science fiction novels filled with his thoughts about religion and philosophy. This became the VALIS trilogy:
