Valley Lines

Valley Lines

The Valley Lines are the local train services in South Wales from Cardiff. Once a division of Wales and Borders trains (a National Express Group company), they are presently run by Arriva Trains Wales.

The network is composed of a number of lines, most of which terminate or pass through Cardiff Central. The colours used are from the official network map (see External links).

The old railway line through the Vale of Glamorgan, on which passenger services were closed under the Beeching Axe, is set to re-open for passenger service, with current plans being for a service from Cardiff Central to Bridgend, via Barry and Llantwit Major. These services were originally advertised to start in April 2005, however, this date has been put back to June - as of February, Arriva Trains Wales are confident that the line will be ready for service by the revised target date.
