Vanity

Vanity is similar to pride, but it involves an excessive admiration of oneself because of one's real or imaginary skills, talents, accomplishments, or appearance. Pride in physical appearance can border on narcissism. In Western art, the sin of vanity is symbolized by a mirror, or by animals such as the cock or peacock. As one of the seven deadly sins, the vain person's excessive belief in his or her abilities interfers with his or her recognition of the grace of God.
