Weekly Alibi
The Weekly Alibi is a free weekly newspaper published in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Alibi first appeared as a bi-weekly newspaper called NuCity, but was forced to change its name to avoid a legal dispute with a similar Chicago newspaper entitled New City. The Alibi's strongest points include Albuquerque's first "alternative personals" and "I saw you" personals, their film reviews, odds and ends, and entertainment guide. Their yearly "Best of Burque" (Burque is a term for Albuquerque used almost exclusively by the newspaper; pronounced BURR-kay) awards, which cover everything from "Best Community Action Group" to "Best All-You-Can-Eat" to "Best Gay Bar", are arguably the most coveted retailer awards in the city.
