Whole Wheat Radio
Whole Wheat Radio is a grassroots webcast focusing on independent music and musicians, broadcast around the clock from Talkeetna, Alaska. For the most part, the webcast and associated website (with chat features) run with little human intervention. However, daily "rants," scheduled interviews, house concerts and spontaneous conversations are broadcast live. Musical offerings range from independent singer/songwriters, to blues, to classical, to bluegrass and newgrass, to folk. Originally broadcasting from a bare-bones cabin, in 2004 proprieters Jim Kloss and Esther Golton built a structure next door to hold house concerts and webcast gear. Known as Wheatheads, regular listeners interact in a "chat room", request and rate music, send original music, and write to artists.
