Wig WamWig Wam is a Norwegian rock band, which is dedicated to the Glam rock and imitates the style of typical American rock bands from the 1970s. EurovisionIn the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 Wig Wam will represent Norway, since they won the Norwegian preselection Melodi Grand Prix. With the song "In My Dreams", written by guitarist Teeny, the band overcame seven competitors and thus got the ticket to Kiev. Wig Wam will bring completely new sounds to the Song Contest. The band's slogan says: "Rock'n'Roll is the new Shlager". Wig Wam had already taken part in the Norwegian final the previous year, but had only finished in third place. With the song "Crazy Things" they could not beat singer Knut Anders Sørum ("High"), who subsequently slumped to last place in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2004. Band leader Glam also took part in the Norwegian preselection on his own in 1998 and claimed third place under his former artist name G'sten, singing the song "Always Will". Band historyWig Wam come from Norway, and more specifically the province Østfold, and they were founded in 2001. Before their establishment the band members were already active in the music business, such as playing in bands like Dream Police, Artch, Sha-Boom, Ole Evenrude and Alien or singing solo. Wig Wam worked hard to become the top of the national charts, beginning their career with numerous live performances across the country, so that they belong to Norway's most popular live bands. In 2004 the band released its debut album "667 ... The Neighbour Of The Beast", which was also published in Sweden. After qualifying for the Eurovision Song Contest in Ukraine, Wig Wam are going to release their album in whole Europe, in a new version called "Hard To Be A Rock'n'Roller…In Kiev", including the hit "In My Dreams". As their musical idols Wig Wam count the groups KISS and Dream Police, as well as the artists Jimmy Page, Led Zeppelin and Marilyn Monroe. Despite their real Norwegian origin, Wig Wam fictionally described their band history as follows: On April 1st 1970 the band was founded in Bronx, "the Polish quarter of New York". In the following years Wig Wam released some records like "The Black and Red Album" (1974) und "The Yellow Purple Brown and Black Album" (1975), which sold several thousand copies. In 1976 according to the legend Wig Wam emigrated to Norway, where they gave concerts then and sold their records. Band membersDiscographyAlbumsSinglesWeblinks
