Xatu

Xatu

Xatu (Zaw-Too) is a bird pokemon in the Gold, Silver, Crystal, Ruby, Sapphire, Fire Red, Leaf Green, and Emerald games. This awkward creature is a Psychic-type. Therefore, it can sense the future and control things with its mind.

However, this green, two-headed totem pole of a flier is more adept in reading the future. In South America, they say that one of its eyes sees the past, and the other reads the future. This is why it hardly ever budges unless neccessary. Others say it does so out of fear. It meditates all day and will not move until night, when it moves very little. Xatu communicate to humans through semaphore.

Xatu evolves from the minuscule bird Natu at Level 26. Attacks Xatu use are Confuse Ray, Future Sight, Psychic, and Wish. It has the ability to synchronize its status (its poison, burn, or paralysis) to others and sleep very little.

Occasionally, one will find a Xatu that is differently colored. This is a Shiny Xatu. Shiny Xatu's skin is a lime green, instead of dark green. The red-colored band around the edge of its wings is orange, as are its feet (which are also usually red.)

Xatu have a 50% chance of being male or female. They are roughly 5 feet tall, although they way only 33 lbs. "Xatu" is said to mean "mystic." Many people and scientists do consider it mystic- especially its teleportation abilities.

Xatu themselves do not have a native habitat; they must be bred and raised as a Natu first. Xatu has been seen in 2 main anime apperances. First, it was owned by a woman named Callista who lived in a secret underground facility of the ancients. Her Xatu supposedly predicted a great flood to come. Then, it was seen in a "movie" in the anime about a Xatu and Natu couple in a spoof of the movie "Titanic."
