XFP

 

XFP

XFP is a standard for serial fiber optic transceivers that allow transfer rates up to 10 Gbps. It is protocol independent, and protocols that can be used over XFP include Ethernet, Fibre Channel, and SONET. XFP is used in telecom routing, and benefits are small footprint and low power consumption. The corresponding interface standard is called XFI.
