XSB

  ( 1 )

The XSB (Xtreme Student Body) is a fantasy football league founded in 2002 at the University of Mississippi by then-student Will Bardwell. The league is comprised mainly of former and current ASB (Associated Student Body) politicos.

Originally, 10 teams made up XSB. A number of teams, including then-ASB Treasurer Marshall Rivers' Yellowjackets, were contracted following the 2002 season, and eight teams returned for the 2003 season.

Following the 2003 season, Bardwell resigned as the league's commissioner after orchestrating an illegal substitution conspiracy in an attempt to tip the results of a playoff game. Drew Snyder, the former ASB president, was named the XSB's commissioner in the wake of Bardwell's resigation and re-expanded the league to 10 teams, granting expansion franchises to Gabe Roberts and Thew Ingram.

Original members still participating in XSB play are Snyder (Pinball Wizards), Bardwell (Doug Zeigler Express), Alan Bean (Shock and Awe*), Jake Dickerson (Dickie's Sissies), Haydn Roberts (Domesticated*), Allen Thigpen (Team Dubose), and Tim Conkin (Witchdoctors*).

Past winners of the XSB Bowl, the league's championship game, are:

  • 2002: Drew Snyder (Pinball Wizards)
  • 2003: Allen Thigpen (Team Dubose)
  • 2004: Gordon Fellows (Bardwell's Kilt)

Note: The XSB current composition is in no way, shape, or form related to Stony Brook University's Logic Programming and Deductive Database system for Unix and Windows.
