Yuriy Kravchenko

Yuriy Kravchenko

Yuriy Fedorovich Kravchenko (Ukrainian: Юрій Федорович Кравченко, March 5, 1951March 4, 2005), was the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine from 1995 until he was fired in March 2001. He was born in Olexandriya, Kirovohrads'ka oblast', Ukraine. He was found dead in his apartment near Kyiv, Ukraine on March 4, 2005. He was at that time called as a witness in an investigation into the murder of Georgiy R. Gongadze, a Ukrainian journalist who was abducted in 2000 and found decapitated several months later. It was claimed that Kravchenko committed suicide, but some news reports[1] have suggested his head had two gunshot wounds. (But cf Gary Webb.)
