Zoo of Acadiana

The Zoo of Acadiana is located just outside of Lafayette, Louisiana. It was opened in 1992 and was sold to a private owner in 2002. The Zoo of Acadiana is located on 45 acres (180,000 m²) and contains approximately 400 animals. Though small, the Zoo is constantly and steadily growing. Countless birds fly through its two acre (8,000 m²) aviary and patrons can get down and playful in the petting zoo. The grounds include the ZOOvenir Gift Shoppe, the Critter Cafe Concession Stand, the Antelope Express Train Depot, a Snowball Stand, the Mason de Reptile (Reptile House), EdZOOcation Room, and so much more. Private rentals include a 1500 ft² (140 m²) covered pavilion called the Peacock Patio, and 2500 ft² (230 m²) indoor reception facility called the Bamboo Room.
