Zunyi Conference

Zunyi Conference

The Zunyi Conference took place in January 1935 while the remnants of the CCP were partaking
in their Long March to Yan'an. The meeting exposed and criticized the military mistakes of CCP leaders and passed a resolution to relieve Bo Gu and Li De (Otto Braun) of military supreme command. It was also at this time that Zhou Enlai joined forces with Mao Zedong and further pushed for a communist style government. Mao was elected to the Secretariat and the Standing Committee of the Politburo of the party. Bo Gu's work was taken over by Zhang Wentian, while Mao Zedong and Zhou Enlai were in charge of the military. During the march, Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai and Wang Jiaxiang formed a top military command. The Zunyi Conference ended the "left" opportunist line of Wang Ming. In fact Mao's leadership was established.
